TRIBUTES have continued to pour in for a popular Stoke City fan who passed away just days after returning from his honeymoon.

Friends of 31-year-old Jay Lovatt say it was a 'privilege' to have known the JCB worker.

Jay was found dead at his home in Eaves Lane in Bucknall on Thursday. In the weeks leading up to his sudden death he had celebrated his birthday, wed his long-term partner Rachel, and gone on honeymoon.

It is believed he was planning to whisk his wife and their daughter Maci-Jae away for another holiday.

Ian Proudman, of Bucknall, said: "Jay was one of the nicest and most genuine guys I have ever met. He was always laughing and smiling and that's how I will always remember him.

"Its been a true privilege to have been able to call him a friend. We will miss you buddy."

Sam Eagles, aged 29, of Newcastle, added: "Jay was understated and always thinking of others – a true friend and immensely proud family man.

"One remark from a close friend highlights everything for me – irreplaceable."
