A MAN has been charged with murder and attempted murder following a double stabbing.

Gareth Mason has been charged with killing 28-year-old bus driver Adam Stirrup.

Mason, who is believed to be from North Staffordshire but was living in Westminster Road, Morcambe, has also been charged with the attempted murder of Mr Stirrup's girlfriend, named locally as Katrina Rumdrum, aged 26.

The 26-year-old was arrested in Newcastle on Sunday following the incident at a caravan park in Heysham, Lancashire, earlier in the day.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before Lancaster Magistrates Court this morning.

Miss Rumdrum, who lived in a static caravan with Mr Stirrup at Stud Farm Holiday Park, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Anyone with any information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
